IIITM Gwalior Society constituted a Campus Visioning group to develop a vision for the institute campus and requirement of facilities on long-term basis. On the recommendation of the campus visioning committee, the architect was selected through a limited competition amongst architects who had, in the past, designed similar level institutions following the Architectural Council of India norms. A jury headed by Shri M.K.Kaw, then Secretary Education, Govt. of India, selected M/S Suresh Goel & Associate, New Delhi as the architect for the institute.
Since the institute was to be established for providing quality education and facilities for research to act as a resource in the area of IT and Management, it was decided by the visioning group that the institute academic building must convey the spirit of excellence and radiate the message of high quality. Therefore, it was planned that all buildings would be fully wired for providing access to modern communication facilities at all places on the campus. Accordingly, the Institute building, hostel rooms and faculty residences are being completely wired with latest technology. The smart campus is being provided with the necessary facilities for all round development of students' personality.
The construction work started in January 2001 with Educational Consultants India Limited (EdCIL), a Govt. of India PSU as project manager and L&T ECC as constuctors.
A Campus Visioning group developed the vision for the institute campus and requirement of facilities keeping the future developments in the next decades. The smart campus, fully equipped with modern communication connectivity, is being provided with the necessary facilities for all round development of students' personality. The institute now has building infrastructure for Academics (Academic Buildings and Lecture Class Room Complex) Administration area , hostels, faculty housing and play grounds. Lecture rooms are equipped with audio –visual facilities and latest teaching aids.
IIITM is a residential institute and requires all students to stay on the campus. Separate hostels are provided for male (Three) and female (One) students. All hostels have single occupancy rooms. The hostels are self-contained, having amenities such as reading rooms, facilities for indoor games like table tennis, billiards and gymnasium and courts for Tennis, badminton, basketball, Crickets grounds etc. Each hosted has a lounge, entertainment hall and a dining hall with messing arrangements.

IIITM-G over the Years: Industrial Links
The institute promotes extensively links with the professional world and working towards creating relationships with various organizations in varied sectors of economy, government and agents of social and economic change. These linkages encompass curriculum design and development, curriculum delivery by industry experts, mentoring of students by CEOs and senior professionals, summer internship projects, final placement and participation by industry executives in MDPs offered by us. Professionals and experts from industry are members on various policy and decision making bodies of the institute. The students and the faculty, in turn, contribute by taking up industrial and business problems and projects and offer solutions. Joint research projects are also undertaken. It is not surprising, therefore, that the students of the institute are offered nearly 100 % placements through campus selections.
Summer Internship, which is of twelve-week duration, after completion of first year of MBA/ MTech Programme or after fourth year of five year integrated programme, is intended to give our students a deep insight into the practical nuances and work ethos of the corporate world. During this period the students undertake projects under the guidance of company executives. Institute faculty closely interact with the students and industry mentors. It provides an opportunity to explore various avenues of collaboration to build a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship between the institute and industry.
The second year students of the 5-year integrated programme undergo a 10-weeks internship with NGOs to provide them the opportunity to understand the needs of people and of the ground realities of our country. This experience instills appropriate attitudes and motivation in them to participate in the country’s development .

IIITM-G over the Years: Alumni
IIITM is proud of the performance of its alumni, who have made a mark for themselves and a brand name for IIITM Gwalior. By their significant contribution they have helped in making IIITM Gwalior as a worthwhile destination for the industrial houses to visit for making recruitments. The alumni have formed themselves into an association, which has become a focal point for exchanging ideas and experiences and also for providing feedback for causing relevance between the institute programmes and the industry
