ABV-IIITM Ranking in Top Engineering Colleges of India

  • ABV-IIITM Gwalior ranked 29th by Outlook India
Outlook India Ranking

  • IIITM ranked 3rd in "Top 10 Engineering Colleges With Doctorates in Faculty"....

  • IIITM is one of the 3 Institutions of India which has 100% PhD Faculty... IIT Kharagpur & ISMU Dhanbad being the other two Institutions..
  • Having Doctorates in faculty will be the mark of a good Engineering College.. Most of the Engineering Colleges won't have more than one or two doctorates in their faculty department. But the above listed colleges have more than 75% doctorates in their faculty department.. And, IIITM Gwalior has 100% doctorates in their faculty department..
  • IIITM Gwalior & IIIT Allahabad has less number of faculty coz there aren't many Engineering disciplines in both the colleges... IIIT's are the institutions setup mainly for fostering Information Technology Services & hence have less number of Engineering branches in them & hence less faculty... IIIT Allahabad has ECE & IT branches whereas IIITM Gwalior has only IT branch in it as of now... Some newly established IIIT's like IIITD&M Jabalpur, IIITD&M Kancheepuram have ECE, CSE & MECH departments...
  • The Institute is a bit lagging behind in rankings of collegekhabar.com since college khabar takes into account the popularity votes from the student as well as public community for ranking... And as IIITM has only one Discipline (ICT) as of now, it is a bit lagging behind in the popularity votes... This I think is one of major reasons why IIITM is a bit behind in rankings of collegekhabar.com.....
  • However, the institute improved it's rank from 46 (last year) to 41 (this year) in college khabar rankings.... Hope, IIITM soon enters the ELITE League of Colleges...

Upgradation of IIITM gwalior to IIT Gwalior...

This post was originally posted on Abhigyan Abhikaushalam Students’ Forum by the same author.

Guys !!!
there's a proposal to upgrade IIITM Gwalior to IIT gwalior ...
Bt the problem is in implementation ...
May be we can see the such upgradation in future ... :
Reference :
Gwalior’s institute may not be upgraded to IIT

But on another question on the issue of upgradation of ABV-IIITM (Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management), Gwalior to an IIT raised by Maya Singh in Rajya Sabha, Purandeswari, in a written reply to this question said that, “Madhya Pradesh is already having various centrally funded technical educational institutions viz MANIT (Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology), Bhopal; ABV-IIITM, Gwalior; PDPM-IIITDM (Pt Dwarka Prasad Mishra Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur and IIM (Indian Institute of Management) at Indore. Further, IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research) has been approved in Bhopal. Planning commission has given its ‘in-principle’ approval for setting up a School of Planning and Architecture in Bhopal. At present, there is no proposal to upgrade ABV-IIITMG, Gwalior to an IIT.

for more detail you can see here ...

Some comments to this posts:

Do we really need to be converted

On April 5th, 2009 ipg_200611 says:

What I believe is that IIIT gwalior should not be converted into IIT..IIITs are having their own identity and they are specialized institute of ministry of india. If we make them IIT their identity will be dissolved just like ROORKEE..which previously has its own importance. IIIT has potential students , funds and infrastructure to make themselves upto level of IIT.. but it would surely take some time.
IITs are brand because of their Alumni.

Once I met a guy in IIM-Ahmedabad his name was "Vaibhav Bhamoria " h was ISM dhanbad passout. I just said that ISM should be converted to IIT ..he said that there is strong resistance from the Alumni as they dont want to liquefy the identity of being the best mining institute of india by making it IIT.

Government has plan to open around 15-16 IIIT's all over india in different states ..this will surely give a momentum in the enhancement of the publicity of the IITs...And IIIT gwalior is the 1st among those IIITs...

Comments are Invited this is what I feel ,, :)

Match the standards not the name:)

I strongly disagree with the fact of converting the IIIT into an IIT coz what i persinally feel is that the name doesn't matter, we rather need to match the standards. Alumni will always prove to be the magic. Also including Computer Science and Electronic engg will help us make a strong alumni. Better faculty is a need.

@ranking

8th ranking is always variable in India Today...1 IIIT-A...2 Thapar..now VIT...

Don't believe in ranking.....
Institute is going well ..it is in the hand of students how they can use their potentials for the upliftment of the institute profile and ranking..
This institute is young now let the product come out we would prove some day what we are..
Therefore this is my appeal that instead of pointing finger to other just look at your self and see what you are doing for the institute and also don't only point out the problems also come out with the feasible solution.

@ all

its not about wat is the ranking or what achievements the insti. hav made b4 n after our tym BUT its all about what we, the students think about the insti. and I dnt think that many ppl are satisfied with the institue.
