Sajal:
Thank you for your nice words and for inviting me for the IIITM Alumni meet during August 29- 30, 2009.
Sajal is presently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. King Saud University is the no. 1 ranked premier university in the Middle East and is ranked 197th in the world. Sajal has an adjunct faculty position at the University of Applied Sciences, St. Polten, Austria and teaches during the summer semester every year to Executive MBA students.
Dr. Sajal Kabiraj is a PhD (Information Technology & Management), MS (International Logistics and Supply Chain Management) from JIBS, Sweden - IIM Ahmedabad, India and a MBA with specialization in Marketing & Operations Management and a Chemical Engineer (BE, Chemical Engg.) with specialization in Biotechnology & Biochemical Engg. Sajal also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Foreign Trade from the World Trade Institute and has pursued advanced courses in Statistical Methods and Business Process Re-engineering.

A walk down memory lane :Dr Mahim Sagar: A memoir of an Alumni
IIITM Gwalior is amazing place and as I go back to my memory, I came to this institute to join the PhD programme .The selection was through entrance test and nearly 100 candidates gave the exam for the PhD. out of which only 5 were selected, this was a rare example where a very young institute in its starting year started a very successful and ambitious PhD Programme. The institute was taking the shape of a world class institute of excellence under the mentorship of Prof. D.P.Agrawal Sir , I remember those days when the team of dedicated faculty like Dr Deepali Singh madam and Dr R Sahu were developing the institute under the mentorship of Prof D.P. Agrawal. The institute was new and full of activity. The IIITM Gwalior at that point was in the make shift campus at MITS and the campus was being constructed at the present site. We used to see the tremendous Hard work of the faculty and also the inherent zeal to build the Indian Institute form the scratch . In this hectic activity the academic was of prime importance I remember Prof Agrawal sir used to visit the research scholar room daily and used to motivate us to do a new and world class Research. , As research scholar we were lucky to have a bunch of very good batch mates like I remember Saji who is now with TAPMI , Sujoy who is now joining IIT Kharagapur , Durgesh Ji who is now at IIM Shilong and Sandeep who is now at J.P, Shweta is now a consultant in USA and Sajal is now faculty at various institutes abroad.

I am IPG MTech 2006 pass-out currently working as Technical Leader at Vichara Technologies. My work is primarily related to software product development in the area of FIS (Fixed Income Securities) Analytics.
Q. 2. Define IIITM in your word?
Arun:
Its a place which made the most of what I am today.
Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?
Arun:
Apart from all the fun moments & numerous nights spent in playing badminton, t.t. or snooker, the one thing that I cherish the most was the lectures by Mr. Davesh Singh. The course taken by him was the only one in which i had nearly full attendance. They were the most technically enlighntening lectures during the entire five years and the learnings and overviews gained during them have helped me in a long way.
Q. 4.Technology and Management in your words, how it become more special when it comes for IIITM ?
Arun:
The amalgam of management and technical subjects allowed us (IPG MTech) to develop an insight into how business works. In a normal five year course offered at other colleges, this much exposure to management subjects is definitely missing. Apart from the exposure being provided at curricular level,the phenomenon of having a mix of MBAs and MTechs as batch mates and dorm mates allows both to pick up more insight into each other's stream thereby enabling a true confluence of managment and technology.
Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Arun:
Be curious, remain open to learning and keep churning ideas in your head (both the right and wrong kinds ;) )
Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …
Arun:
Our college is unique in the sense that it allows us (IPG) to follow numerous career paths, given the option to chose mba or mtech and the availability of five years at a stretch. At my time, we were the second batch, so when we were in first or second year we didn't have much idea about what it would be like to be in the final or pre-final year, but now you have all your senior batches studying with you and multiple batches of alumni in the industry. My advice is that you should keep interacting with your seniors and try to form an idea of what all ways you can direct your progression at IIITM and later on. Also, one thing that I advise to everybody is that try to keep yourself well read. It really pays out in ways unbeknownst to you now.
Q. 7. IIITM on lighter note: eg: IIITM is getting more greener with times, what do you think ???
Arun:
Seeing the latest photos, I must say that there have been a good lot of developments taking place. During my five years, I have always longed for campus internet in hostel and the tennis court. I am told they are in place now, so its nice to see these things coming to fruition. The plethora of alumni initiatives being taken these days is also worth appreciating. Just hope that the rate of such developments keeps climbing up!

Your Intro
Senior se intro mangte ho!!! Ab tak seekhe nahi ho kaise baat karni chahiye... Chalo tab bhi kucch bol hi deta hun.
I am from IPG course, known more by my nickname than the full name, somehow fallen into IIITM from Bihar in the search of future, friends, fortune and fame. “Fallen” is the most suitable word because when I arrived, there was only one and half hostels were there majestically standing over a barren land. I am a (day) dreamer, rebellious and try to live at my own terms.
Define IIITM in your word
I saw IIITM through its developing phase from having one and half hostel into a full fledged green campus, so the word means differently for different time. But at all times it was a place of fun and freedom.
The most memorable moment @ IIITM
It is very difficult to single out the most memorable moment. There are many which still bring smile. I describe one of them.
In the beginning there was not a well-established system and so we had to resort to creativity and courage for even some essential works to get done. One of them is get food! In 2001 there existed only one considerably completed hostel (present day girls hostel) (say hostel no 1) and a half built one (present day Sindhu Hall) (say hostel no 2). In H. N.1 senior PG students were staying and in H.N. 2 IPG-2001, our senior IPG-2000 and some PG first year people were there. Mess was run only in H.N.-1. There was no good connectivity between them and during rains the campus around used to become muddy. Most of the students go to mess from HN-2 by bus to avoid mud. One day there was huge downpour and the campus became so flooded and muddy that even bus was not able to reach to the H.N.2. It was lunch time and HN 2 residents were hungry, but no way to reach to HN1 for lunch. Proudly I say that, then only I and my dear friend Mukesh Kumar 'Danda' had the courage to discover a path and tread to HN1. We braved our way into the flooded campus through huge mud and hidden ditches for lunch. It was very adventurous!
Technology and Management in IIITM perspective
The concept is good, but I think good amount of publicity and branding are still needed to get the industry aware of these things. Integrated MTech is well known, but not the integrated MBA.
2-year MBA students too face lot of problems if they do specialization in traditional areas like marketing, finance etc. It is difficult to attract and convince industry in these areas for placement. The location only aggravates the problem. I know many engg/mgmt colleges in Bangalore/Mumbai etc which are substandard to IIITM, but get better placement because of their location advantage.
Your experience and strategy @ your work place
Owing to the course structure, engg colleges give lot of free time to students to do things as they wish. IIITM is one step ahead, gives much more time :)). I think it follows St Rabindra Nath Tagore's principle to give freedom to students to learn what they want. This system leads to development of leadership in the students. It also promotes team building. The frequent presentations improve communication and speech delivery skills. Communication of knowledge is as important as the knowledge itself. And here IIITM has advantage due its culture of presentations which no engg college in India has.
Since beginning of my stay at IIITM I used interact a lot in class. It improved knowledge as well as communication. 'Class Interaction' is the key to my performance there.
A message to your all juniors
Do never feel having low morale. Develop desire to succeed. Believe me, intelligence is secondary to desire for success ( I do not mean that IIITMites are less intelligent, my intention is to emphasize the importance of desire). It does not matter whether you are intelligent or not, what matters most is an intense desire to do something, to succeed. Spiritual people say, if you want something intensely other forces in the universe come forward to fulfill them without your conscious knowledge.

Ashutosh:
I was part of second IPG batch of IIITM admitted in IPG 2001. I did my 5 yr dual degree in Btech & MBA. After passing out, I joined TCS. In past 3 years in TCS, I have been working as Information Risk Management domain as consultant. I feel that this is one of the best profiles which suits my education I received in IIITM.
Q. 2. Define IIITM in your word?
Ashutosh:
IIITM is an apex institute which was setup with a vision to provide new dimensions to IT education in India. This institute aims to mingle IT with management and other curriculums to provide a proper amalgamation of various domains. Like every young institutes, IIITM is in a stage to develop its brand image. We have already proven our potential and caliber as a top institute at various times, but still IIITM needs to be recognised as one of the top 5 institues in India, which I am sure will be in next 5 years or so.
Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?
Ashutosh:
Off course getting my degree completed was most memorable day in IIITM. I can't forget that day because a long journey had come to an end and I had to say good-bye to my batch of 47 students with whom I was studying like a family. I was feeling nostalgic for the ups and downs which I had seen there. There are numerous wonderful and unforgettable moments of class rooms, hostel, examination halls and canteen which I can never forget.
Q. 4.Technology and Management in your words, how it become more special when it comes for IIITM ?
Ashutosh:
Technology is a medium to get things done and Management is the way to use that medium in the nbest possible way. We are fortunate that we descend from one of the rare institutes in India which provides education in IT cum management with a proper delivery approach. Although in initial years, we felt some issues due to lack of faculty and infrastructure but gradually things became easy. The way IIITM is producing techno managers year by year, i am damn sure we are to be considered the best academic products in this IT era.
Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Ashutosh:
When I joined corporate, I was like a lamb in this new world passed out from college. Gradually, I have developed competency and skills to stay in corporate. In corporate, only hard work and talent doesn’t pay. One should know how to take credit of his work and if possible, of others work too. From being a good IT institute, it was easy for me to understand technology and its importance. I am working as Information risk management consultant which is a type of IT consulting. I work for compliance projects related to ISO27001, SOX, BS25999 all which need technological as well as managerial understanding. It is a good learning time in last 3 years. Finally, I have got a path to follow and a life-time goal to achieve.
Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …
Ashutosh:
Besides studying books and scoring marks, developing attitude and communication skills is very important. I know many people who don't know anything but only by virtue of there positive & dominating attitude and polished communication, they achieve what others can't. But knowledge is also important otherwise people will understand that whatever you are saying is baseless & illogical. So I would like my juniors to develop both - attitude & aptitude.
Q. 7. IIITM on lighter note: eg: IIITM is getting more greener with times, what do you think ???
Ashutosh:
greener in sense of grass & trees - yaa definitely
in sense of development - again I would say we are developing. Thanks to sincere & diligent students and proper direction provided by director Dr. Deshmukh & faculty members. I think we can improve much more . Only thing needed is to maintain trust in ourselves and in our brand and keep going!!!

Interview with Pragnya Maduskar: Study Days @ IIITM Gwalior : A jaunty Journey …
Pragnya Maduskar: She is one of the two aspirations of IPG2002. She is the early martyrs of IIITM Women Front (IWF) who always fought for the greenery cause and subsequent global warming inside the campus.[;)]

For us, she was a 'constant gardener' in our networking lab, though she had never taken a single lecture [:)] .

Pragnya:
Hi, I am from IPG 2002 Batch and that qualifies me as one of the two girls in our batch. Currently I am working in Medical Imaging field with Siemens Computer-aided diagnosis research group in Bangalore.
Q. 2. Define IIITM in your word?
Pragnya:
Freedom, fun and frolic
Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?
Pragnya:
These 5 years @ IIITM was complete fun. Be it late night gossiping in girl’s hostel, watching movies, eating out everyday, bunking classes or night out before the exams, I enjoyed every bit of it. One incident I can never forget is the Major exam of Modeling and Simulation, when we (me and Aparna) reached half an hour late for the exam (as we were sleeping) and despite of that managed to finish the paper.
Q. 4.Technology and Management in your words, how it become more special when it comes for IIITM ?
Pragnya:
Personally MBA is not my piece of cake. IIITM has tried to amalgamate two different perspectives i.e. technology and management and because of this I got to learn few Management related fundamentals (which I never implemented). I feel it still needs to be nurtured further so that this unique combination is appreciated and realized by the industry.
Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Pragnya:
We never got any kind of spoon feeding in IIITM and I learnt here to pursue everything on my own. This attitude always helped me in finding right opportunities in my current organization. If your work really interests you, any kind of skills can be acquired in that field to bridge in the gaps.
Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …
Pragnya:
The time you spend during your college days is never gonna come back. Enjoy it to the fullest and live your dreams. You have lot of freedom and time to learn many things and work towards your career as well as personal interests. Don’t follow the herd but pursue the field which you really passionate about.

Pragnya:
IIITM is an inseparable part of my life where I have spent 5 important years. Institute management is putting lot of efforts towards building the IIITM brand image globally. Things are much better now as compared to our times in terms of facilities and academics. I really wish that with time institute gets the global visibility and we as IIITM alumni.

Abhinav:
Professional: I am a passout of MBA2003-05 batch and during MBA my major/minor were IT/Marketing. During campus interviews, I got selected for Skoch Consultancy Services, Gurgaon and worked with this company for about 18 months after that I worked with SDG Software India, Noida. I then moved to US and worked there for about 2 years with the client Principal Financial Group as an IT Business Analyst. I moved back to India in March'09 and currently working as Sr. Business Analyst with Bluechip Computer Consultants for the client Johnson & Johnson.
I got married in 2007 with my girlfriend for 6 years. She is also an IT Business Analyst.
Q. 2. Define IIITM in your word?
Abhinav:
IIITM is a platform which gives you an immense opportunity for self development through varied resources available at the institute. It is upto an individual on how to manage the time and make best use of the resources to achieve the aim of the life.
Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?
Abhinav:
Not one specific but I had great time at the institute overall. We used to play cricket at terrace, celebrate Diwali, Lohri and all the festivals. It used to be fun at Aurora.
Q. 4.Technology and Management in your words, how it become more special when it comes for IIITM ?
Abhinav:
From my experience I can say that techonology has to amalgamate with management in order to be effective and vice-versa. IIITM has an advantage that it makes managers who are also groomed to be technocrats so you are able to relate the technology and it's implementation as the business systems. Though, I would still say that our curriculum still needs to be driven from on the job requirements.
Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Abhinav:
I think I answered part of this in Q 1 but regarding development I would say, you need to focus on your goals and take steps in that direction only. The company you work for has got many employees and it is next to impossible that development of each employee will be taken care of. You are your own manager, just focus on objectives and try to manage resources from the organization. This is the strategy I work on.
Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …
Abhinav:
My message to juniors would be, "Do not worry for placements until you are in final Semester" because all the time before that is to acquire and brush up skills. Work towards obtaining education which would be helpful in getting a job of your choice. DO NOT study just for the sake of getting job which is not of your choice but is paying you high. In short, pursue what you really want. Do not consult everyone, consult selected people who are working in the area you want to be in.

Srikar Velichety: I often raise point against the rationality of customizing everything in IIITM, as putting daily notices, guest lectures, extra classes blah-blah [:O].

The whole journey of 5 years was memorable. I will cherish this period for the rest of my life.

Srikar:
Frankly speaking, I am still confused on how technology and management are related :) How ever I have had a bumpy ride (in fact a 5 year long one) while trying to relate both of them . And in the end, I could come up with some substantial conclusions. A strong exposure to technology with a flair of management brings in the best in an individual.
Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Srikar:
I am still at the beginning of my professional life and hence its too immature to comment on this issue at this point of time. However I can surely say that the environment at IIITM had made me more inquisitive,agile and independent. Today, as I carry forward these qualities into the professional world, I find myself comfortable at the workplace.
Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …
Srikar:
I have always believed in the saying "A pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity where as and optimist sees an opportunity in every difficulty". Whether it is a difficulty or an opportunity get the best out of it. Never get disheartened with something bad that you find.And most importantly make full and propitious use of your time. This is the resource you will miss badly once you pass out of the institute.

The past one year had seen a lot of improvement on all fronts. The institute had improved the resources both on the physical and intellectual front. And resources continue to pour in into the institute. Its left to the students to make the full use of these.

Rajeev:
One of the most rocking place on earth. An institute that provide total freedom to explore your hidden talents (Professional as well as personal). An institute that prepared me to face challenges in Corporate world. Gave friends for life. And above all saved one year of my education.
Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?
Rajeev:
The whole five years were memorable and every second of that is very special. I experienced almost every flavor of life. Friendship, love, sadness, fight and protest as well. I think the most memorable time was 3 months of B.Tech project when we turned the Lab2 into bedroom cum kitchen cum gaming zone. Another case was...some management paper in 10th sem. Naval Vajpyee sir told us that he doesn't want us write essay. Write as much as required and to the point. Unfortunately i took his words literally and answered all the 5 questions in one and half page. It took so much of my management and negotiation skills to get A in that :).
Q. 4.Technology and Management in your words, how it become more special when it comes for IIITM ?
Rajeev:
Technology is all about building applications and solutions.....where as Management is an art of convincing customers to pay you for that. Technology is useless without Management but management can be used to make revenue without Technology.... In corporate language its called Consultancy. and IIITM provide you the best environment to enhance your Management and Consultancy skills.
Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Rajeev:
When i joined Satyam, i realized that its not important what you know and what you are skilled to do. Most important is, how well you understood the System and its working. I didn't felt much difference in working conditions of IIITM and Satyam. and kept trust that Google knows everything.
Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …
Rajeev:
Maintain a perfect balance between academics and extra curricular activities. Both are equally important. Party as much as possible and Read whatever interest you. These five years are best time of your life, enjoy every moment of it. It feel so good to hear achievements made by juniors. I wish they keep the graph moving up.

I totally agree. Ratio has shown signs of improvement in recent years but still 50% target seems far to achieve.

Interview with Mayur Gupta: Study Days @ IIITM Gwalior : A jaunty Journey …
Mayur Gupta:On receiving our questionnaire, Mayur's answer was, "Why us ? we are the youngest alumni whose one leg is still in IIITM [:O] ."

IIITM ... well i thought it was ABV-IIITM for the past 5 yrs ... damn.... why was i not aware of the change ...
anyways IIITM ... a mix of IIT and IIM as we heard it was when we joined here ... later on after 5 yrs of being in this institute i guess it is a mix of the things which are absent in both the IIT and IIM :)
its a good place if u want to do something with ur life ... anything can be counted in for it ... like becoming the laziest person in the batch ... (that would be meee) or becoming the most studious ... (offcourse u know who 'Google').
but the time and the opportunities this institute has given to me is something which cannot be compared to any other institution in any regard as its the only institute where u will find the seniors guiding the juniors as their own brothers and the juniors doing the same by passing on the tradition which is the only thing i guess that has kept the true IIITM Spirit still intact.
Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?

well the whole 5 yrs can be counted in for a memory which can be remembered for a lifetime.
but for some incidents well they count in for a collection...
the most memorable for me is the day when while doing out BTech Project ... P.K.Das sir gave us a warning that if the speech recognition system did not run in the next 24hours then he would be awarding us a D grade for BTP..... at tht time we did not even understand what speech recognition was ... it took a whole night of reading and coding with some tricks too ... but finally we were able to manage making of the system ... but running it was still no way near in the morning. Later in the morning at 6 Bharat, Pranjal,Vidya and myself mailed Das sir regarding all the effort we had taken and the result was still not visible. at 10 am we went to sir with the work and all he did was enter a command ..... thts it .... the system ran ... and was recognizing commands .... :P ...
That was one feeling which became a memory and even today that feeling is living inside all of us.
For me that was one of the most memorable moments

Mayur:
Technology and Management ... well they do not remain the same when they come under the roof of IIITM ... we learn both of the subjects together and expertise ourselves in the common base from where we can rise into both the fields. there is one IT and MBA side to both the branches which this institute has nourished into our minds and it is that factor which makes us more industry oriented than any other course... (IPG offcourse).
For me the love for technology grew in IIITM but also the management did not leave me either ... since i got more experience in the management side of life at IIITM compared to the technical side .. (i don't know programming being an Mtech :P)

still for me my workplace was IIITM and the skills i gathered there was by learning from others ... i still remember the 5th yr seniors Sharat sir, Pushkar sir, RP sir and rajiv sir who taught us about the basics of Linux, programming and operating systems which till date are the only things i feel i learned in IIITM and still is the most useful.
I personally feel that when you are guided in the right path by the right persons then you do turn out to learn a lot, and in the process gain experience which is carried froward to the juniors.
From P.K.Das sir i personally feel he is the person who made me what i am ... because during the Btech project the experience i have gained from him is something which is irreplaceable. The journey of the learning has not been something i cherish but the learning i have had from my seniors and Das sir is something i will call as my best time in IIITM.
Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …

well ... this is the section which should be skipped since there wont be anything productive except for the routine dialogues like
read the subjects, attend classes, score good, prepare aptitude, read novels .... u will be successful .... i hate this crap ..
if you want to do something forget it all ... reading books is a different story ... but if you are interested in any topic then go for it ... read it fully do not think if it relates to your subject or course ... just keep reading and do something in it .... believe me guys ... the more different you are the more you will feel confident about urself.
Give the projects a rest ... take up your own topics and work on them, who says to work on the topics which are always suggested if you have an idea and if it is not being considered even then still look out on net there will be numerous people like you working on that.
The best part of IIITM is that you can read anything anytime and you will still have a lot of time left for BAKAR ...
so juniors ... and the ppl who still feel all the above is crap (in a way it is) ... listen to urself ... and work along .... for support ...

now that we have moved out ... the situation is lot better than 5 years ago and is going better .... but boys .... do remember "The Grass on the Other Side is Always Greener" .... getting something outside the campus is better ... :P

IIITM ... well i thought it was ABV-IIITM for the past 5 yrs ... damn.... why was i not aware of the change ...
anyways IIITM ... a mix of IIT and IIM as we heard it was when we joined here ... later on after 5 yrs of being in this institute i guess it is a mix of the things which are absent in both the IIT and IIM :)
its a good place if u want to do something with ur life ... anything can be counted in for it ... like becoming the laziest person in the batch ... (that would be meee) or becoming the most studious ... (offcourse u know who 'Google').
but the time and the opportunities this institute has given to me is something which cannot be compared to any other institution in any regard as its the only institute where u will find the seniors guiding the juniors as their own brothers and the juniors doing the same by passing on the tradition which is the only thing i guess that has kept the true IIITM Spirit still intact.
Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?

well the whole 5 yrs can be counted in for a memory which can be remembered for a lifetime.
but for some incidents well they count in for a collection...
the most memorable for me is the day when while doing out BTech Project ... P.K.Das sir gave us a warning that if the speech recognition system did not run in the next 24hours then he would be awarding us a D grade for BTP..... at tht time we did not even understand what speech recognition was ... it took a whole night of reading and coding with some tricks too ... but finally we were able to manage making of the system ... but running it was still no way near in the morning. Later in the morning at 6 Bharat, Pranjal,Vidya and myself mailed Das sir regarding all the effort we had taken and the result was still not visible. at 10 am we went to sir with the work and all he did was enter a command ..... thts it .... the system ran ... and was recognizing commands .... :P ...
That was one feeling which became a memory and even today that feeling is living inside all of us.
For me that was one of the most memorable moments

Technology and Management ... well they do not remain the same when they come under the roof of IIITM ... we learn both of the subjects together and expertise ourselves in the common base from where we can rise into both the fields. there is one IT and MBA side to both the branches which this institute has nourished into our minds and it is that factor which makes us more industry oriented than any other course... (IPG offcourse).
For me the love for technology grew in IIITM but also the management did not leave me either ... since i got more experience in the management side of life at IIITM compared to the technical side .. (i don't know programming being an Mtech :P)

During my time with institute, I was carrying a zeal to turn the things upside down and downside up, never to mention that things have not really changed but this has imbibed a fighter in me, so that's how i sum up myself after IIITM, a fighter. Never to give up and 'Just do it'. Btw, later was my byline during insti farewell.

Inseparable identity of mine. Have nurtured my values, provided me opportunities and prepared me to take on the world. It's the most laid back time but who said that things can't be easy. Gave me friends and relations for life. I would say everything except deep rigorous knowledge (though our curriculum boast that) but made me smart enough to get that myself. Most rocking place in the world !
Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?

If i look now then it was great journey, with ups and downs. Love and fights, jhappiyan and pappiyan, man, i am getting nostalgic. On serious note, it was my stint with Infotsav in 3rd year which I really chreish, perhaps it has taught me more management than my 2 years of MBA :-P I have never been that passionate in my whole life. Was it just an event ?

Honestly, I have chosen IIITM over other choices owing to this techno-management but could not appreciate this until I joined the Industry. Always thought that people opt for MBA because they want a chillax life :P but yeah now I don't wonder anymore. I see the real time applicability of S/W engineering which I thought is most useless :-| Dude, it's not about developing applications but the whole process and people and other stake factors involved alongside. I believe IIITM is the best institute to get the real Industry knowledge.

This is interesting. When I joined Satyam, I felt I have come to another IIITM, the same way of working. You have to take up the work, challenge others, fight and get succeed, noone gonna stop you, not sure how things work at other places but I felt that the spirit to get the things right inspite of all tough conditions is what keeps me moving on and I guess, I am doing fair enough :)

Guys, you are at heaven, drink the life to the fullest Just find out what your goals are and that's your focus and leave rest for others. This is the best place to prepare you on how to become smart ass, no support, no checks (atleast during our time) and you are on your own. If you walk through this smoothly then you can walkthrough the tough journey ahead very easily!

It was real hilarious to go for buying a beer bottle and then argue for discount because we were IIITMites. And has the wi-fi and AC come to the hostel? We have spent 5 complete years waiting for that !!!

Q.1. Your Intro ? (the first question for every IIITMite in so called intro :))
Nishant:
Hi, I am from Gwalior, completed my MBA in 2004 also an engineer though my Mech. Engg. is rarely used in my current profile. Right now working in Oracle India in sales profile, responsible for handling Western India Region for EPM (Enterprise Performance Management) Solutions. Total 5 years experience all in solution sales, I love to play games and read books. Fond of traveling and making new friends.
Q. 2. Define IIITM in your word?
Nishant:
IIITM is an institute of choices, I believe and have experienced that you can take your career wherever you want it to be. Be it in the field of IT/Consulting or in the area of research or management.Still some of the promises with which institute was set up are to be delivered and I am sure they will be in a very near future. Above all its a place which has given me alot both in professional and in personal life.
Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?
Nishant:
The Aurora 2003 that we organized and learned a lot about (event) management. The bash we use to have on seniors placement, the snacks at the local tapra, the basement cricket at boys hostel..................
I owe all my best friends & lots of cherished moments to IIITM.
Q. 4.Technology and Management in your words, how it become more special when it comes for IIITM ?
Nishant:
No business or management function is independent of technology today. The best grad school today produce the students strong in either of the discipline but not both of them. IIITM is unique as curriculum is such, a student can design his course creatively and excel at both the discipline. No industry or organization is not in need of such a mix.
Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Nishant:
Well, I belong to the minority of alumni today professionaly as I am in Sales function.Life Starts and ends with numbers (target), During my 5 years in sales I have learned a lot from others and made many friends from different industries. Some of the key learnings I have gathered and which will help all of you are:
1. Read alot it helps in striking conversation and keeps you going in corporate world.
2. Be a good and effective communicator it will give you an edge over others
3. Have a balanced lifestyle work/personal life/time to yourself
4. Be good to others
I have always believed to choose the path which I find interesting and take some risks on the way which till now have paid well. Still a long way to go to be a big fish in this huge corporate ocean but I can say that it has been reasonably well for me till now.Biggest achievement till date is being recognized in Top 20 performers in Oracle India in FY 09' (the reward was Hawaii trip for me and mom :-)
Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …
Nishant:
Hi all, Just remember IIITM is a platform where you can launch yourself to touch your dreams. Try to enrich yourself as much you can during your time here. Enjoy the college life and make lifelong friends.
You are the best of the best, always keep your head high and believe in yourself.

Q. 7.IIITM on lighter note: eg: IIITM is getting more greener with times, what do you think ???
Nishant:
Yes IIITM is getting greener for sure may be after some time the subject grading will become more eco friendly e.g. carbon credits instead of credits.
Do remember the times in hostel when the birthday boy becomes a victim exactly at 12AM (you know what I mean)
