Pragnya:
Hi, I am from IPG 2002 Batch and that qualifies me as one of the two girls in our batch. Currently I am working in Medical Imaging field with Siemens Computer-aided diagnosis research group in Bangalore.

Pragnya:
Freedom, fun and frolic

Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?
Pragnya:
These 5 years @ IIITM was complete fun. Be it late night gossiping in girl’s hostel, watching movies, eating out everyday, bunking classes or night out before the exams, I enjoyed every bit of it. One incident I can never forget is the Major exam of Modeling and Simulation, when we (me and Aparna) reached half an hour late for the exam (as we were sleeping) and despite of that managed to finish the paper.

Q. 4.Technology and Management in your words, how it become more special when it comes for IIITM ?
Pragnya:
Personally MBA is not my piece of cake. IIITM has tried to amalgamate two different perspectives i.e. technology and management and because of this I got to learn few Management related fundamentals (which I never implemented). I feel it still needs to be nurtured further so that this unique combination is appreciated and realized by the industry.

Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Pragnya:
We never got any kind of spoon feeding in IIITM and I learnt here to pursue everything on my own. This attitude always helped me in finding right opportunities in my current organization. If your work really interests you, any kind of skills can be acquired in that field to bridge in the gaps.

Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …
Pragnya:
The time you spend during your college days is never gonna come back. Enjoy it to the fullest and live your dreams. You have lot of freedom and time to learn many things and work towards your career as well as personal interests. Don’t follow the herd but pursue the field which you really passionate about.

Q. 7. IIITM on lighter note: eg: IIITM is getting more greener with times, what do you think ???
Pragnya:
IIITM is an inseparable part of my life where I have spent 5 important years. Institute management is putting lot of efforts towards building the IIITM brand image globally. Things are much better now as compared to our times in terms of facilities and academics. I really wish that with time institute gets the global visibility and we as IIITM alumni.

Rajeev:
Rajeev, Tallest and most vella guy of IPG 2002 batch. Highly skilled in class bunking and nonsense Bakar. Currently working as Siebel Business Analyst and Presales expert with Mahindra Satyam.

Q. 2. Define IIITM in your word?
Rajeev:
One of the most rocking place on earth. An institute that provide total freedom to explore your hidden talents (Professional as well as personal). An institute that prepared me to face challenges in Corporate world. Gave friends for life. And above all saved one year of my education.

Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?
Rajeev:
The whole five years were memorable and every second of that is very special. I experienced almost every flavor of life. Friendship, love, sadness, fight and protest as well. I think the most memorable time was 3 months of B.Tech project when we turned the Lab2 into bedroom cum kitchen cum gaming zone. Another case was...some management paper in 10th sem. Naval Vajpyee sir told us that he doesn't want us write essay. Write as much as required and to the point. Unfortunately i took his words literally and answered all the 5 questions in one and half page. It took so much of my management and negotiation skills to get A in that :).

Q. 4.Technology and Management in your words, how it become more special when it comes for IIITM ?
Rajeev:
Technology is all about building applications and solutions.....where as Management is an art of convincing customers to pay you for that. Technology is useless without Management but management can be used to make revenue without Technology.... In corporate language its called Consultancy. and IIITM provide you the best environment to enhance your Management and Consultancy skills.

Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Rajeev:
When i joined Satyam, i realized that its not important what you know and what you are skilled to do. Most important is, how well you understood the System and its working. I didn't felt much difference in working conditions of IIITM and Satyam. and kept trust that Google knows everything.

Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …
Rajeev:
Maintain a perfect balance between academics and extra curricular activities. Both are equally important. Party as much as possible and Read whatever interest you. These five years are best time of your life, enjoy every moment of it. It feel so good to hear achievements made by juniors. I wish they keep the graph moving up.

Rajeev:
I totally agree. Ratio has shown signs of improvement in recent years but still 50% target seems far to achieve.

Interview with Dhananjay Kulkarni :Study Days @ IIITM Gwalior : A jaunty Journey …

Dhananjay Dilip Kulkarni: Dhananjay, better known as 'the Euler' of IIITM will always remain a source of inspiration for his juniors. Due to his lucid teaching style he is also known as 'The Professor' and believe me he is more capable in binding students than a regular Prof. I'm still remembering the '64 X 64 Chess board' problem and its '2 X 2', 2 min. soln.[:)] of his lecture on Discrete mathematics class.

On the other note he is a true artisan, a painter. In 'Tabla' he was Zakir Huesen of IIITM. Each year the 'Saiyon Ne' trio of Dhananjay, Sandeep and Ankit has rocked the stage of Aurora.

IPG 2002; often made the judge of the singing competitions to avoid me participating it and the co-founder of AIFA (All India Fatta Association), a now dormant organization that used to foster budding artists fond of cracking crappy jokes.

Dhananjay:
(Off the records) When I was caught sleeping in my lab. (On the records) Amazing juniors. Each moment with them is a memory.

Dhananjay:
An amazing confluence of the instrument (technology) and the skill to use it (management). Though a very benign thought, it'll need some time to get impressed in the students as well as the industry.

Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Dhananjay:
The underlying principle was freedom to study. We got the time to study whatever we wanted. We were never spoon-fed, and often were left to ourselves. That led us to form study groups, and mutual co-operation.

Dhananjay:
Create a passion for anything, don't let go of it. You'll be benefit from it someday later.

Pawan:'Pawan' is the synonym of zeal and a symbol of paladin in IIITM. I'm still remembering the night when we tried to bring a revolution in ABVP's way in IIITM and you guided us to our first victim Ashok Jain(the messwala) :).

Pawan:
During my time with institute, I was carrying a zeal to turn the things upside down and downside up, never to mention that things have not really changed but this has imbibed a fighter in me, so that's how i sum up myself after IIITM, a fighter. Never to give up and 'Just do it'. Btw, later was my byline during insti farewell.

Q. 2. Define IIITM in your word?
Pawan:
Inseparable identity of mine. Have nurtured my values, provided me opportunities and prepared me to take on the world. It's the most laid back time but who said that things can't be easy. Gave me friends and relations for life. I would say everything except deep rigorous knowledge (though our curriculum boast that) but made me smart enough to get that myself. Most rocking place in the world !

Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?
Pawan:
If i look now then it was great journey, with ups and downs. Love and fights, jhappiyan and pappiyan, man, i am getting nostalgic. On serious note, it was my stint with Infotsav in 3rd year which I really chreish, perhaps it has taught me more management than my 2 years of MBA :-P I have never been that passionate in my whole life. Was it just an event ?


Q. 4.Technology and Management in your words, how it become more special when it comes for IIITM ?
Pawan:
Honestly, I have chosen IIITM over other choices owing to this techno-management but could not appreciate this until I joined the Industry. Always thought that people opt for MBA because they want a chillax life :P but yeah now I don't wonder anymore. I see the real time applicability of S/W engineering which I thought is most useless :-| Dude, it's not about developing applications but the whole process and people and other stake factors involved alongside. I believe IIITM is the best institute to get the real Industry knowledge.

Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Pawan:
This is interesting. When I joined Satyam, I felt I have come to another IIITM, the same way of working. You have to take up the work, challenge others, fight and get succeed, noone gonna stop you, not sure how things work at other places but I felt that the spirit to get the things right inspite of all tough conditions is what keeps me moving on and I guess, I am doing fair enough :)

Pawan:
Guys, you are at heaven, drink the life to the fullest Just find out what your goals are and that's your focus and leave rest for others. This is the best place to prepare you on how to become smart ass, no support, no checks (atleast during our time) and you are on your own. If you walk through this smoothly then you can walkthrough the tough journey ahead very easily!

Man, how much discount are we getting at almost every food joint, coahing institutes, dhabas, gym. It was real hilarious to go for buying a beer bottle and then argue for discount because we were IIITMites. And has the wi-fi and AC come to the hostel? We have spent 5 complete years waiting for that !!!

Amit:
I am from 2002 IPG batch, many people will not know me by my pet name only "Gulli" given by my dearest friends. I am currently working with Wipro Infotech as a Information Security consultant to Saudi Arabian Airlines.

Q. 2. Define IIITM in your word?
Amit:
A complete kingdom in itself where every kind of character could be found right from super intelligent students to hilariously crazy government employees . But above all, a nice student culture where people freely interact (sometimes extra freely) and ultimately the place that made me whatever i am today.

Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?
Amit:
The whole five years were full of memorable experiences but if i have to write about one thing then i would say it will be the day when we kicked out the hostel mess contractor. It was something awesome thind which we had tried at lower levels many times but suddenly one day people got united and determined that this contractor has to go. Evene with all the connections, he had to leave hostel. Unnfortunately, i heard he is back in IIITM.....common guys, kick some a** again :P

Amit:
"humne management or technology ko bilkul aise mila dia hai jaise doodh vala dhoodh mein pani milata hai" words of a great director of IIITM. We laughed a lot at the ironic truth in those words. But when i started my career, to my surprise my practice manager told me i don hesitate to give project management responsibilities to you guys since in your college you studied a bit of management also. I believe the idea is really unique, just a better way of teaching can really bring out the benefits.

Q. 5.Your experience and strategy @ your work place: how did you develop your skills from null to pointer, please give us a biographical detail .
Amit:
"Even if you have just heard the name of something, u can say you got a sound knowledge on that thing" our beloved Mr. Davesh sir used to say this, which actually reflects what the institute taught and i still use :P - a lot of confidence in your work. Doesn't matter whether you know anything or not, we are better than many others and we have developed a capability of learning. I believe that's the true aim of education - it should not teach you facts, it should develop the capabilities of learning.

Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …
Amit:
I have heard a lot about the achievements about the junior batches and i wish they keep this going on. You may sometimes feel that institute is not coming up to your expectations, but never let this thing come in between you and success and It is the only place where you will make life time friends, so don let pretty issues come in between.

Q.1. Your Intro ? (the first question for every IIITMite in so called intro :))
Tanay:
Tanay Maithani, the most useless person of IPG 2002 MBA. Only visible in Canteens, Hostel and PMC. A very rare species to be found in Lecture Theaters. Last one to reach for the examination hall and first one to leave it. Special Presence during Aurora on stage with fillers.

Q. 2. Define IIITM in your word?
Tanay:
IIITM is my home. The safest place in the world. Taught me everything, to make something out of nothing and everything out of something. Source of energy, gave me friends, gave me love, brotherly seniors and loving juniors.

Q. 3.The most memorable moment @ IIITM ?
Tanay:
entire 5 years have been memorable, can recall almost everyday spent there.

The best one was when one of our professors told us that NETWORK MANAGEMENT is actually a MANAGEMENT course. All technology students were stunned, they always thought it was a core technical subject. Then our dear professor explained us it was management of network packet queues waiting to get inside your router and as a management student you have to manage those. I'm still trying to figure that out... :D

Q. 4.Technology and Management in your words, how it become more special when it comes for IIITM ?
Tanay:
When in IIITM, i was always confused as to how the visionaries wanted to blend management with technology. Now when i'm in the industry I know management and technology are not separable. Technology and Management Courses in IIITM were so much blended i remained confused all the time what am i Reading. IIITM was special because it taught me to fight with vacuum, in a totally hostile environment.

Tanay:
Oh, i just replicated what i did in IIITM. Trying to fight with vacuum.

Q. 6. A message to your all juniors, (something you aspired most @ IIITM and want the same in your juniors) …
Tanay:
Don't let your motivation go down. Believe me, we came in IIITM with much higher expectations that what you had, and the everything (buildings, professors, library, labs, mess, all facilities etc) were much less than what you have now. IIITM will bring out the fighter in you.

Don't regret why you are here, always think how can you make things better than what they are.

and lastly, enjoy your life while in IIITM, a horrifying world is waiting for you outside the boundaries.

Tanay:
Definitely IIITM is more greener now (green revolution had just started in our days, courtesy a very environment loving deputy director), i think all the functional roles are better defined now ( i just hope dubey ji/ negi ji are no more acting invigilators during examinations.
