IIITM G :HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: 13.0 EXAMINATION AND ASSESSMENT OF IIITM STUDENTS

The assessment system focuses on complete professional and personal development and not merely on academic excellence. The rigorous selection process and the stringent eligibility criteria, one of the toughest in the country, guarantees inclusion of highly accomplished and motivated individuals with Engineering and Technical background. Hence special emphasis is laid on judging the emotional quotient rather than the intelligence quotient. Apart from the academic performance , students are also judged based on the following parameters:

1. Communication capabilities

Usage of latest IT tools and multimedia presentations enables enhancement of communication skills in line with live industry requirements.

2. Team Projects

Team projects are aimed at developing team orientation and ability to work with a wide spectrum of people to reach a consensus.

3. Continuous evaluation

The system of assessment of academic learning is continuous and reflected in a letter grade for each subject. The grade awarded to a student in any particular course will be based on performance in announced tests, surprise quizzes, home assignments, laboratory work, Industry project works, presentations etc. The evaluation is continuous in nature and the distribution of the weightage is decided by the Course Co-ordinator.
